- Special Select Board Meeting, Monday, June 27 at 5:30 PM relating to repair of Main Street bridge and completion of the Pedestrian Bridge Project, including whether or not to close the bridge entirely for a month or to do the repairs with one lane remaining open, and including the costs of each approach to the town and local businesses, and including the impact on essential services like fire, rescue and ambulance service, water & sewer, and postal and delivery services. You may attend via Zoom or at the Municipal Building. With ongoing COVID infections, participation via Zoom is encouraged. - Seeking volunteers to serve on Plainfield's American Rescue Plan Act Advisory Committee Here's the application. Plainfield has received $188,622.33 in American Rescue Plan Act funds and will be receiving a total of $377,245 in ARPA funds. The Advisory Committee will consider what ARPA funds can be used for, what the Town's needs are, and any proposals for the use of the funds and provide the Select Board the committee's wisdom. These are one-time funds, and care needs to be taken in making the important decision of how to best use these funds for our community. - The mask mandate issued by the Select Board on January 4th and renewed on February 1, 2022 has been allowed to expire. Please continue to be thoughtful about how you and your family members can help prevent the spread of COVID 19. Being fully vaccinated and boostered helps stop the spread of this infection. Wearing a mask does so as well.
- Help from a new Federal program which offers financial assistance to residential property owners, including owner-occupied multi-family properties with up to four units, whose drinking water well and/or septic system may be close to failing or have already failed, helping ensure all Vermonters have access to safe, reliable drinking water and adequate wastewater disposal. - Many thanks to community members who serve Plainfield on various boards! We are delighted to have a few new appointees: Milena Yasus is our new Twinfield School Director. Mary Niebling has been appointed to the Development Review Board term ending April 2023. Ryan Gillard has been appointed to the Recreation Committee. And Plainfield Fire Chief Greg Light and Emergency Management Director Sasha Thayer serve on the Central Vermont Regional Emergency Management Committee.: Milena Yasus has been elected school director for The Town of Plainfield on the Twinfield School Board after her appointment last year.
