Property Taxes & Fees

Taxes are due and payable on the due date shown on your bill. Payments not hand delivered to the Town Clerk/Treasurer by 4:00 PM or postmarked on the due date will not be accepted as on-time payment. After this the due date, your tax bill will become delinquent and turned over to the Collector of Delinquent Taxes.

You will be charged an 8% penalty fee and 1% interest per month thereafter.

Municipal tax due date is set by the Select Board in July when the municipal tax rate is set.  School tax due dates are set at Plainfield's Annual Town Meeting.  Tax due dates for 2022 and 2023 are:
Municipal taxes will be due mid- to late-August.  Due date will be determined in July 2022.
School 1 taxes due November 9, 2022
School 2 taxes due February 8, 2023

Exceptions
The only exception to this policy is School Payment #1.  This payment will be charged only the interest of 1% per month until the due date of School Payment #2.

2022 and 2023 Due Dates
  • Municipal taxes will be due mid- to late-August.  Due date will be determined in July 2022.
  • School Payment #1 is due November 9, 2022
  • School Payment #2 is due February 8, 2023
