Town Meeting Adjournment and Voting
On March 7, 2023, on motion made and passed, Plainfield's Town Meeting was adjourned to 9 am on Saturday, April 15, 2023 due to failure to meet State law requiring that the Town Report be mailed ten days before Town Meeting. This vote includes adjournment of the election of officers; however, you are able to vote for Town officers from now until the close of the polls on April 15, 2023. You can vote in-person at the Town Hall-Opera House for Town officers on April 15th, you can request an absentee ballot from the Plainfield Town Clerk or arrange to vote early ((802) 454-8461). Voting on all other articles on the Town Meeting Warning will be in-person on April 15, 2023. If you have not received your copy of the Town Report, you can request one from the Town Clerk.

Warning for Plainfield Town Meeting - March 7, 2023
Plainfield's American Rescue Plan Act Advisory Committee: Plainfield has received a total of $377,245 in ARPA funds. The Advisory Committee is considering what ARPA funds can be used for, what the Town's needs are, and any proposals for the use of the funds and provide the Select Board the committee's wisdom. These are one-time funds, and care needs to be taken in making the important decision of how to best use these funds for our community. The members of this committee are George Cushing, Jane Bradly, and Arion Thiboumery. The Select Board commenced consideration of the recommendations from the ARPA Advisory Committee at the Select Board meeting on February 22, 2023 and made a decision regarding allocation of ARPA funds for the Cutler Memorial Library. Further consideration of use of ARPA funds will take place at future Select Board meetings. Agendas for meetings and Zoom links for participation may be found on the Select Board page.

Many thanks to all who cast their ballot in-person on November 8, Election Day, or who voted early in person, or who brought their voted ballot to deposit with the Town Clerk prior to election day. And many, many thanks to our now-retired Town Clerk, Linda Wells, and to new Town Clerk Robin Miller and Assistant Town Clerk Carol Smith as well as election volunteers and Plainfield's Justices of the Peace, for their work to make Plainfield's November 8 election well-run, accurate, and welcoming. As is typical with elections in Plainfield, all went smoothly.
Interested in serving? Our Planning Commission, our Conservation Commission and our Cemetery Commission could use additional members. We also need an additional lister and an auditor - there is a stipend for both of these positions. If you are looking for some additional income consider serving the Town as administrative assistant to the Select Board or as our part-time Town building maintenance manager - hours are flexible. Help from a new Federal program which offers financial assistance to residential property owners, including owner-occupied multi-family properties with up to four units, whose drinking water well and/or septic system may be close to failing or have already failed, helping ensure all Vermonters have access to safe, reliable drinking water and adequate wastewater disposal. More information about this program authorized as part of H.R.1319 - American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 - is available at https://anr.vermont.gov/content/arpa-vermont.
